Winten Property Group

Founded in 1972 by Garry Rothwell, the Winten Property Group is now one of Australia's premier property development companies. The Winten group has grown from the architectural talent of its principal into a multi discipline company with approximately $800 million of project activity underway.

Much of the Winten persona is seen in our high quality residential apartments, which command prime positions throughout Sydney's eastern suburbs and lower north shore. However, the majority of our development activity is focused on commercial/retail development and land subdivision.

The success of Winten lies in the perception of market movements, diversification, and a team culture based on uncompromised standards.

Now in the 21st century, the Winten Property Group will continue to invest in our traditional areas of expertise whilst applying our skill and resources to develop new business territories.

Garry Rothwell named Property Person of the Year 2011

We are pleased to announce that Garry Rothwell, founder and principal of the Winten Property Group, has been named Property Person of the Year 2011 by Urban Taskforce for his vital contribution to the urban development industry and wider community.

The Urban Taskforce's chairman, Noel Hemmings QC, said that Mr Rothwell has made a vital contribution to the urban development industry and the wider community.

Since 1972, off the back of his architectural training, Garry Rothwell has undertaken over 180 development projects in his 39 years of operation, building a reputation for quality of design and innovation.

"While much of the Winten's public persona centres on boutique apartments, Garry has developed extensively across the medium density markets and pioneered more affordable, more compact living in studio and one bedroom apartments on Sydney's Lower North Shore," Mr Hemmings said.

"From a base of residential development activity, Garry expanded into land subdivision and has developed many thousands of lots throughout estates in NSW and South East Queensland in the last three decades.

"Growth continued into the commercial office sector where notable successes include the winning tender for the NSW Police Headquarters at Parramatta.

"Garry's group has been a consistent winner of industry awards and in particular was the winner of the inaugural Urban Taskforce Development Excellence Award in 2002 for the Forum at St Leonards.

"Garry pioneered Transit Orientated Development and Forum remains the template for high density mixed use developments over railway stations.

"Along with his development activities Garry is an active supporter of various charities, including the dedication of time through directorship roles, and a patron of heritage preservation."
